I have danced since I was young at Battle School of Dancing, and progressed to helping as a teaching assistant when I was at secondary school. It wasn't until after university that I decided to take dance more seriously and train to become a teacher with Melody Movement Early Learning. As an adult I completed vocational exams with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and a Certificate in Safe and Effective Dance Practice with Trinity College. I also taught Baby Ballet and Pre-Primary Ballet at East Sussex School of Performing Arts.
I love teaching young children, not only to see their dancing and coordination improve, but to watch their characters develop and their confidence grow. The Melody Movement syllabus gives children the opportunity to gain an understanding of the world around them through weekly themes in a relaxed and friendly environment. This is why I love Melody Movement! Children have many years for structured dance training if they wish, but I strongly believe that preschool classes should give children the chance to develop their imagination and social skills.
I started Little Stars School of Dance in 2010 teaching just one half an hour preschool class in Ninfield. I am now pleased to be teaching eleven classes a week in Ninfield and St Leonards-on-Sea for children from the age of two to six years. I feel very fortunate to be able to say that I love my job!
